Goodbye 2025: A Moment to look back before moving forward
The start of a new year has a way of making us pause. Not because everything magically resets on January 1st, but because it gives us permission to take a breath and look at the road we’ve traveled. In corrections, that road is rarely smooth. Our days can be unpredictable, heavy, and demanding in ways most people in the outside world will never fully understand or experience.
But even in the toughest times, there are lessons, quiet ones, hard ones, and sometimes ones we don’t recognize until much later.
As we step into a new year, this is a good time to ask ourselves:
What did this year teach me?
How did this year change me? did I become more resilient?
Working in corrections means we carry experiences that most people never see. Some days test our composure. And some days simply test our ability to keep going. But every one of those days shapes us.
