Resiliency does not stop when the shift ends – a page dedicated to Correctional Staff Wellness

Getting in shape isn’t about flipping a magic switch. Most of us aren’t waking up tomorrow ready to run a marathon or crush a full workout routine, that is life and that’s okay. Change can start with something much smaller.

Sometimes the barrier isn’t the weight itself. It’s the feeling that you have to fix everything today. That pressure keeps people stuck.

But small steps can chip away at these barriers.

A bike ride after work. Two sets of pushups and sit-ups before your shift. Choosing water instead of grabbing that energy drink today.

These things can stack up, they get you started, they point you in the right direction. They remind you that you’re still in the fight. And over time, those wins turn into momentum.

If you want to work on your health, start where you are. Do what you can do. Start with something that doesn’t feel overwhelming.

day by day, you slowly improve.
